Filipino Style Fried Rice

Fried rice

One of my all time favorite go-to meals to make is fried rice. My mom would make it for breakfast sometimes when we were little and as I got older I started making it any time we had some extra rice in the fridge! And being part Filipino, you know extra rice is always in the fridge. Also, day or two old rice is ideal. My version is slightly sweet, savory and absolutely delicious! You really can’t mess this recipe up and you can add different veggies depending on what you like. I stick to the basics: peas and corn. Or nothing lol, but I had it in my fridge so I threw it in there!

Ingredients:

  • Garlic
  • Peas
  • Corn
  • Green Onion
  • Teriyaki Sauce- Veri Veri Teriyaki is my fav
  • Ham
  • Eggs
  • Sriracha
  • Rice

Directions:

Fry 3-4 eggs and set aside. Heat pan with oil and brown minced garlic. Add rice and teriyaki sauce and fry until softened. Add veggies and turn up the heat- the rice should literally be frying! Once things are popping- literally and figuratively- add the eggs and the chopped up ham. Continue to fry for several more minutes. Add seasoning and sriracha to taste. Enjoy the deliciousness!

  1. I love that line “you can’t mess this recipe up”. hahaha. so true! You can almost anything to it and it will still taste good. I always add diced hotdogs and eggs whenever I cook fried rice and add some soy sauce, garlic and salt to flavor. Nice post! 🙂

    1. Yesss!!! Originally, I would sautee the ham in some brown sugar, then add the soy sauce and garlic too. And yum! I love hot dogs and eggs and rice haha such comfort food 🙂 It’s a no-fail recipe for sure.
