Saturday was a beautiful day to celebrate Holi Hai! The sun was out, I bought a delicious raspberry almond croissant and coffee for breakfast, the flowers are blossoming anddd I actually woke up relatively early- it was a good day. I’ve never participated in Holi, but each year while in college I saw the aftermath of the incredible celebration: tons of people covered in tons of vibrant colors! I was always bummed I missed the action. This was the first year my friends and I joined in on the fun and it was awesome! What’s Holi? It’s known as the Festival of Colors and celebrates the coming of Spring, the joy of friendship, and equality for all. The colored powders used are to represent happiness, love, and the freedom to live vibrantly. Amen! The second we all got our colors we immediately started tossing it all over the place, at randos and throwing hand fulls at each other. It was so much fun! I have to admit, I was worried about getting it in my eyes… and people getting a little too crazy with blowing colors in my face. But it was all safe and an excellent, messy good time! There was lively traditional Indian music and dance performances and it was so nice to see everyone dancing and throwing colors around and just enjoying the festival! I loved being messy and getting covered in basically a rainbow explosion. I totally will be coming back next year!
