Brooklyn Grange in Long Island City

Brooklyn Grange Something about growing fruits and veggies straight out of Mother Earth just fascinates me. I’ve always loved picking produce fresh from its source, although that rarely happens with me being a city kid and all. But despite living in New York City- which is perhaps as far away from farm life as possible- I discovered the hippest way to take in some good ‘ol farming and fresh air!

It was a treat to visit Brooklyn Grange, the leading rooftop farming business in the US! Brooklyn Grange is in charge of the biggest rooftop farms, located on two roofs in NYC, and grows over 50,000 lbs of organically-cultivated produce per year. It is the best urban farming you’ll ever see. The seasonal produce ranged from fairytale eggplants to peppers of all sorts, to kale and my absolute favorite- okra! Who knew okra grew from blossoms?! From fresh veggies and herbs to unbeatable skyline views, Brooklyn Grange is a one-of-a-kind experience!
