“Del Posto is the ultimate expression of what an Italian restaurant should be”

Mario Batali’s swanky Italian restaurant, Del Posto in New York City’s Meatpacking District, is arguably one of the top Italian restaurants around. From the moment you step in, you feel like a VIP. The restaurant is grand, luxurious and spacious and the service is extremely attentive to your needs. With its fancy, romantic ambiance, it’s the perfect place for a big celebration, anniversary or anytime you feel like fine Italian dining in style!

At our dinner, we decided on the Il Menu Del Posto: a five course feast complete with your choice of antipasto, secondo and dolci, and the whole table gets to enjoy two pastas to share. First of all, the bread basket is the best I’ve had.  There was a nice variety of toasty, fresh breads that were accompanied by not one, but two indulgent, whipped butter options. The traditional butter and the savory lardo butter, which was addictive. I didn’t care at all that its basically whipped pig fat. Bring it!

Antiposto // Truffled Beef Carne Cruda with Crispy Salsify Chips
This was unexpectedly amazing. It had an excellent truffle flavor, a satisfying crunch from the Parmigiano-Reggiano & shaved king oyster mushroom chips, and the meat was melt-in-your-mouth good. It was like steak tartare on steroids. I could have eaten this alone and been happy with my meal!

Primi // Traditional Del Posto Garganelli Verdi al Ragù Bolognese & Parmigiano-Reggiano
I’ve always been a fan of a meaty bolognese and this dish certainly didn’t disappoint! Each bite of the dark green, al-dente, spinach pasta was covered in the meat sauce which was rich in flavor and tasty.

Primi // DP Agnolotti dal “Plin”Parmigiano-Reggiano Butter
This dish was simple, buttery and rich. The simplicity really highlighted the quality of the pasta and proves that small portions can pack just as much depth in flavor as any other!

Secondi // Warm Lobster with Squashes, Hazelnuts, Brussels Sprouts, Balsamic & Brown Butter
The lobster was buttery, fluffy and tender. I loved the crunch from the hazelnuts and the slight sweetness the squash provided. Brussels are one of my favorite veggies and the acidity from the balsamic balanced the dish out perfectly. It was also so nicely plated!

Secondi // Veal alla Saltimbocca  with Braised Cavolo Nero, Crisped Potatoes & Marsala Guis
My bf got this fantastic dish, so naturally I had a bite (or three) of his too! The veal was tender, well seasoned and juicy. And the crisped potato tots were a fun, salty pairing.

Dolci // Butterscotch Semifreddo with Melon Agrumata & Crumbled Sbrisolona
The slab of butterscotch semifreddo was so delightful! Buttery and silky smooth this soft ice cream had a deep, sweet and salty butterscotch flavor. The citrusy notes from the apple slices and bits of the melon candy went beautifully with the scoops of creamy goodness!

In addition to some amuse bouche treats throughout the meal, we also were spoiled with a plate of dessert bites that included: custard tarts, chocolate covered olive oil gelato lollipops, chocolate truffles dipped in dark chocolate and cocoa powder, tofees and delectable little caramels wrapped in rice paper. And as if all that wasn’t enough to make this a spectacular dining experience, we each received a pretty gift box with dark chocolates to take home!
