January Life Snaps

Hello 2016! I hope everyone had a gorgeous and energizing start to the new year! January went by way too quickly, but like they say- time flies when you’re having fun. A very disappointing, yet undeniably true statement. This past month I spent at home in San Francisco where I had the best time trying out new restaurants and bars, enjoying the sunshine in the city- hiking, walking along the beaches, strolling through different neighborhoods- and taking day trips around NorCal. I’m excited to share with you upcoming posts about my trip and more! While I may be back in NYC, I hope you enjoy my California posts and I look forward to hearing what you all have been up to! In case you’re not on Instagram or missed out on any snaps, here is another new edition of Life Snaps, a monthly collage of my favorite Instagram pictures.

December Life Snaps

Greetings from California! I hope everyone had a beautiful Christmas holiday spent with loved ones and friends, eating delicious food, exchanging fun gifts and making happy memories 🙂 I have so much to be thankful for and as this new year approaches I’m really taking the time to reflect on all the awesome things 2015 brought! Sure not everything has been perfect, but when are things ever really perfect? One of my new year’s resolutions is to rid my mind of pointless and unnecessary negativity. Pesky thoughts that serve no purpose other than to make me more upset and discontent need to go! Nobody’s got time for that!

This month alone has been filled with fantastic times at home with my family. Baking, wine tasting in Napa, hiking on the beautiful trails in the Bay Area, taking in the views that I can’t get in NYC, eating a ton of tasty foods- obviously- and just hanging out in my favorite city has been the absolute best! In case you’re not on Instagram or missed out on any posts or snaps, here are some of my pictures from December- my favorite time of the year!

How has everyone’s holiday season been? Have a Happy New Year!December

November Life Snaps

Holiday season is here! It truly is the most wonderful time of the year and I’m so happy to be seeing all the Christmas cheer throughout NYC! I love the Christmas decorations, festive store front displays, trees covered in lights lining the streets, being on the hunt for perfectly thoughtful gifts for my friends and family and the anticipation of going back home to SF. I love it all! Particularly exciting, is walking down the streets and smelling the freshly cut Christmas trees on sale, rather than hobo and garbage.

This Thanksgiving was an amazing time- I got to spend it with my bf and his family ❤ Not only was it great spending time exploring the city with some of the people I’m most thankful for, but it was also filled with delicious food, including a tasty Thanksgiving feast. We saw the Rockettes show, One World Trade, the Statue of Liberty and the Macy’s Charlie Brown themed window displays. BTWS I’m a huge fan of good ol’ CB. This month I also checked out the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, the MET and went on a beautiful Fall foliage cruise- it was quite an eventful month. Stay tuned for posts on the outstanding restaurants and sites I visited!

How was everyone’s Thanksgiving? What are you guys looking forward to this holiday season?November

October Life Snaps

I love Instagram- it’s true and I fully admit it! I’m changing up my Life Snaps series a bit- instead of doing random weekly posts, I’ll now be posting monthly round ups of my favorite instas 🙂 October went by so fast– I didn’t even have the chance to go to a real pumpkin patch. Or get lost in a corn field! Ugh. City life. But there were a few highlights! As the beautiful Fall leaves continued to change colors, I managed to rage at homecoming, explore a rooftop urban garden, bake a whole lot of apple goodies, figure out my Halloween costume (always a very tough decision,) adventure in Greenpoint and go to a bridal shower! So, not a bad month at all.

[I love my chocolate cake with a fresh glass of milk!]
How is it already August?? I’m very unsure how summer is flying by so fast. At any rate, I’ve been taking advantage of the beautiful weather by taking walks through the park, venturing to the beach, indulging in icy treats and general sweets, eating al fresco and seizing each opportunity I have to go on an outing in NYC! It may seem like I’m over reacting about the whole “summer is flying by, I MUST SEIZE THE DAY” business, but I kid you not- my will to venture out and about in the city dramatically decreases once the awfulness that is winter in NYC rolls around. I mean, who really wants to do anything when it’s freezing out?

PeachesSummers in NYC are amazing. All of the sudden I want to walk everywhere and soak up as much vitamin D as possible! It’s the best feeling to wake up early enough that you don’t feel like you wasted the day and stepping outside to feel the warmth of summer surround you! Along with roof top bars, tanning in Central Park, always feeling like it’s the right time for ice cream and froyo and wearing comfy, flirty dresses and flip-flops every wear, one of my favorite things to do on a weekend morning (that I don’t end up sleeping straight through) is to stroll through the farmer’s market in the Upper West Side! I love buying fresh fruits and veggies straight from the freshest source. Not to mention everything is so beautifully laid out! Fresh produce, beautiful flowers and succulents, hand made crafts, sweet baked goods… farmers’ markets are where it’s at.

Trips are always too darn short. They really are- especially when it’s to go see your family- whom you know you won’t see for awhile. It’s such an awesome feeling being reunited with those special people who you don’t have the opportunity to see everyday anymore! Makes you wish you could time travel back to the good ‘ol days… when you lived at home with mom, dad and the little sis. I know a lot of people my age who would never dare go back to living at home! And well, I’m here to say I would totally do it in a second if I could! No shame! Alas, it’s not possible. Which maybe is for the best, because if I’m being totally honest with myself, it’s quite possible I could move back home and just never leave! haha Until I get married at least. Anyhoo, here are some pics from my short but sweet- barely two day trip- to see my mom who was killin’ the game on her business trip in Philly.

Big main-side-note: TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY!!! AND HAS BEEN A FABULOUS DAY SO FAR! Just signed a new lease! $1000 rent? In Manhattan? STEAL! And have a few job interviews lined up. Whoop whoop! Plus, had an awesome time with my best homies last night, surprises lined up with my bf for today and my post- bday dinner and celebration in Meatpacking tomorrow night! YAY! Here I am 25!!!!! Stay tuned for more celebratory posts 🙂

[Happiest 51st birthday to my beautiful role model of a mommy!!! How cute are they sharing an adventure in Pescadero, CA?]
This past week was a good one- very well rounded and definitely less work than play. Just how I prefer it! Hah. I did, unfortunately, get sick mid-week which culminated in a 20ish hour sleep-a-thon Wednesday. I was a literal zombie and my eyes just hurt. Like they hurt to move. Anyhoo, I bounced back, and now that May has arrived I’m once again enjoying walking through NYC on foot. There’s nothing I love more than stumbling upon a new delicious bakery to try on my morning commute or grabbing froyo and devouring it in the sunshine on my way back home. Did I indulge a bit too much this week? Maybe… but can’t say I regretted it. And hey- I managed to get my ass to 7am kickboxing! BAM! So I treat mahself.

P.S. Most people don’t know, but I consider May an ENTIRE party month. 🙂 It’s my mom’s bday the 1st, my sister’s the 8th, my boy friend’s the 10th and MINE the 14th!!! WHOOP WHOOP! PARTAY TYMMMMEEEE!

[Happiest 89th b-day to my beautiful Grandma! Wish I could have been at home to celebrate with you!]
NYC really magnifies my emotions. Not sure how every one else feels, but if I’m in a bad mood, it’s 100% guaranteed that stepping out into the reality that is NYC is just gonna piss me off further! I want to start fights with pretty much everyone- even inanimate objects at times. On the other hand, if I’m happy and things are going well- the sun’s out, I’m hanging out with friends, setting up interviews and moving nicely along with my job search- I feel like I’m ready to take on everything! I forget how much I dislike NYC momentarily and instead remember how blessed and lucky I am to be here in an awesome city with my friends. Which is, admittedly, something I need to be conscious of 24/7- good mood or bad. NYC is simply a place that makes you feel like you’re big time if you have things already going for yourself, but can really bring you down if you’re already slumping. On that note, here are some highlights from this pretty interesting week!

[NYC finally stepping up it’s city decorations for Spring! The streets are looking beautiful in the UWS]
I hope everyone had a beautiful Easter weekend! This week went by super fast for me- which is always a bit alarming because it reminds me how important being in charge of your own day is. With time seemingly zooming by, I’m really trying to make more of a conscious effort to stay in the moment and enjoy where I am in life. It’s definitely not a new concept- living each day with purpose and intent- but it’s something I, in particular, need to work on. Easter was an awesome day to focus on the blessings God has provided me. Despite being away from my family, which bummed me out a bit, it turned out to be an awesome day of praising God and reflection on the Resurrection of Jesus, spent with those from church and my loving boy friend. That being said, here are some highlights from my week!
